Week 287: 5th Annual Pumpkinfest

TURKEY PUMPKIN CHILI, GINGER PUMPKIN BREAD, & CLASSIC BROWN BUTTER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

I am so excited to announce a new partnership with Baked by Brown Butter. We are thrilled to welcome Payton to the Soup(er) family and look forward to the delicious, homemade desserts she will be baking for us weekly. Last week we got a sample pack of her favorite flavors and we couldn't stop eating them! Her cookies are all made with her signature brown butter ... believe me, you do not want to miss out on placing an order for her cookies!!

It's officially fall as I introduce the Fifth Annual Pumpkinfest menu for TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4th featuring PUMPKIN TURKEY CHILI, PUMPKIN GINGER BREAD, & CLASSIC BROWN BUTTER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. This chili is hearty, flavorful and packed full of wholesome ingredients. The pumpkin adds a subtle sweetness to the background flavor of this savory chili.

The chili begins with sautéing red bell peppers, poblano peppers, garlic and onion in olive oil. Poblano peppers add a smoky flavor to the chili without adding too much heat. Once the veggies are soft, ground turkey is added to brown along with garlic & onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, coriander and oregano.

Next, pumpkin puree, tomato sauce and diced tomatoes are added. Homemade chicken stock, black beans, and great northern beans are mixed in, then the chili simmers until all the flavors blend together. The chili is garnished with oyster crackers and my chili topping, a tasty combo of shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, and sour cream.

The bread companion is my Pumpkin Ginger Bread. Ginger and pumpkin are two flavors that just seem to go together, like apples and cinnamon. And they team beautifully in this golden, moist bread. This tasty bread always disappears quickly in my home!!

The featured dessert companion are Classic Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies by Baked by Brown Butter. For our signature cookie, I start by browning the butter until it’s perfectly golden and aromatic, giving the cookie a deep, caramel-like flavor that sets it apart from the rest. Each cookie is baked just until the edges are crisp and golden, while the center stays irresistibly soft and gooey. It’s the perfect balance of texture and flavor — buttery, melty, and completely addicting. - Payton from Baked by Brown Butter

Here's an introduction from Baked by Brown Butter

Hi! I’m Payton Megowen, born and raised in Cincinnati and the baker behind Baked by Brown Butter. What started with baking cookies for my family’s holidays turned into a love for creating treats that bring people together. Every batch is made from scratch with rich, nutty brown butter because the best cookies are the ones made with love (and a little extra butter).
