Week 126: Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzo Balls

Week 126: Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzo Balls

On the menu for MONDAY, MARCH 23rd is CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP WITH MATZO BALLS and CHALLAH.  Based on what's happening in the world right now, I think all of us are craving a comforting soup that will not only feed us, but nourish our whole selves. And for my family, it's chicken noodle soup with matzo balls .... and based on your feedback, it's what you want as well.

This soup starts with simple ingredients ... whole amish chickens, quartered onions, celery sticks and more diced carrots than seems reasonable are dropped into a pot and covered with fresh water.  Once the soup comes to a boil, it simmers for a few hours.  Afterwards, the chicken is taken out, diced and dropped back in along with soft, pillowy matzo balls and thin egg noodles.  While I put a fresh garnish on nearly everything I make, this soup I leave alone.  It requires nothing.  My bread companion this week is Challah, a soft, eggy bread coated in everything bagel seasoning that tastes so perfect dipped into the soup.

All soup for the time being will be delivered in disposable containers.  It will be automatically added to your purchase.  Please note that pick up orders will be from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. Z Place will be closed on Monday so thank you for your patience as I try to accomodate everyone.
