Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank & the Mardi Gras Party
Share
There will be no soup delivery on Monday, January 13th so rather than discussing the my menu, I am going to tell you a little bit about an amazing local non-profit and how your next order will help them with their mission.
Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank was founded by native Cincinnatian Megan Fischer, when she learned that social service programs do not cover diapers. An insufficient number of diapers has many detrimental outcomes for children and families including a lack of physical, mental, emotional and educational well-being. Most immediately, leaving children in soiled diapers longer than appropriate leads to discomfort, rashes, and infections for the child. When parents run out of diapers, they are forced to withdraw their children from childcare. Without proper childcare, they cannot attend work or school which would help them provide a firm economic base for their families.
Why a diaper bank? Diaper banks supply diapers to local communities through partner social service agencies. This approach limits unnecessary duplication of services and works collaboratively to solve a basic human need at the community level for infants, young children, and the disabled. By providing diapers, SCDB is giving an incentive to its partner agencies that could keep parents coming back to social programs that can help them break the cycle of poverty.
Sweet Cheeks is hosting a Mardi Gras benefit on February 22nd and Soup(er) Delivery is one of the sponsors. As a result, I am giving one lucky customer 2 tickets to the party, a night filled with good food, drinks and plenty of dancing. All you have to do is order soup! Over the next three weeks, every time you order soup, your name will be entered into the contest. Additionally, I will donate 10% of sales during this time to Sweet Cheeks. The winner of the tickets will be announced the week of February 3rd. And for more information on Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank or to buy your own tickets to the Mardi Gras party, please visit sweetcheeksdiaperbank.org.
The next menu will be White Chicken Chili with cornbread for delivery / pickup on January 20th. Ordering will be available the week before as always.
And a quick note from Jenny at Jenny Sue Delights ... Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a great holiday season! I was very busy leading up to Christmas, so I will be letting my oven and mixer take a short break during the month of January. I’m excited to be back in the kitchen baking for all of you and others in February. Stay tuned for new dessert items in 2020!
